The idea of a modern day workspace doesn’t just involve an office, a cabin or a desk anymore. The meaning has evolved owing to recent happenings. With a lot of types of jobs now allowing working from home, an individual is at a liberty to style their workspace, work area or a work desk, any which way they like. Here are 5 ways you can design your work area for a productive workday.
1.A little bit of Nature
Indoor plants can brighten up your workspace and make you more productive. They help concentrate, relieve stress and get work done. Decor inspired by nature has the potential to nurture the creative processes. You could decorate your space with shells, crystals, plants or even flowers. The key is to get creative to add a little bit of nature to your workspace. Staying closer to the elements of nature is a change you’ll welcome.
2.Stay Organised
Your space is a reflection of your state-of-mind and vice versa. Declutter your space and organise the items on your desk. Get creative with the way you order your work supplies, use colours, binders, post-its and labels to effectively organise your space. Clear the junk and fight the urge to shove clutter into drawers and cabinets.
3.Lights
Allow ample sunlight into your room to brighten your workspace and cut down eye strains and headaches. Give yourself a view that you can look up from your computer screens to. Angle the monitors in such a way that there is no glare from a window.
4.Organise vertically and horizontally
Not all work areas are spacious, thus, using the workspace efficiently is very important. Floating shelves for your supplies, papers, and other essential items can be a great way to organise your desk. This way, the essentials are arms length and are off your work desk. Designate drawers under the tables for knick knacks and other supplies. Ensure that your desk isn’t cluttered while making sure that your essentials are at arm’s length.
5.Make it comfortable
It is a space where you will be spending the better part of your day, so make sure that the space is comfortable, helps you concentrate and feels special. Add elements like photographs or paint the space to add a personal touch to your space to make it feel more comfortable.
6.Form vs Function
Does form always have to follow function or can we experiment? Traditional office spaces always had form following the function but since most of the workforce works from home, it can be interesting to get creative in this domain. Make sure that the office furniture complements the other furniture in your home. Look for pieces that are beautiful and functional at the same time.
