5 Design trends that are outdated for 2023

Interior design is a fast-growing industry. Keeping up with trends is exhausting, yet extraordinarily essential and rewarding. 2022 has been a year with fine design trends for homes with no room left unturned. Some trends have been great yet will not make it to 2023 along with us. Have a look at some of these trends.

1. Open Kitchens

Open kitchens have been our faithful companions through the years yet this is the one trend that will no longer be trendy in the year 2023. It is observed that everyone has been craving a space of their own, kitchen included. There has been more and more demand for closed and private rooms as opposed to traditional open kitchens. This doesn’t mean that the space should look and feel suffocating, the kitchen designs can have a more open floor plan or wall shelves and cabinets making the space feel open.

2. Minimalism

A minimalistic way of life isn’t everyone’s cup of tea today. Not everyone believes in it nor can they embrace it fully. Some pioneers in the design space are finally coming around to the fact that maybe less is finally less as opposed to the famous tagline of all the minimalists that says “Less is More”. This doesn’t mean people are going to hoard items and start decorating with more than what’s necessary. It only means that people will be looking to complement minimalism with layered, maximalist, and modernist designs.

3. Smooth surfaces

Minimalism, on its way out, is going to take yet another prominent design trend we have seen, and reveled in, with it. Smooth surfaces are going to be a thing of the past while people would love to experiment with more textures in their design.

An attempt will be made to appeal to the 5th sense, the tactile, with textures and dimensions to their home decor.

4. Monochromatic Interiors

Pristine white interiors have been in trend for the longest time and have redefined the space of Interior design, since its inception. But it’s finally time to bid adieu to this iconic design to make way for bold colors and patterns in your interiors that resonate with you and your personality. Similarly, all trends revolving around monochromatic interiors will be laid to rest.

People will be seen gravitating toward more vibrant, interesting, and inspiring interiors.

5. Industrial lighting

Sleek, curved lighting trends will be seen replacing the industrial-look lights in the future. Industrial lights have been stylish, and ultra-popular but the curved lighting trends look more promising than ever. Be ready to replace your lamps and light fixtures with curved lighting trends.

The post-pandemic world is more appreciative of the spaces that they live in. Individuals have spent so much time trapped within their homes that they’ve finally realized the need for spaces that are personal, comforting, cozy, and most importantly, spaces that reflect their personalities.
