You’d be lying if you said there’s a more important room than the bedroom in your house. Bedrooms are by far the most important, intimate, and personal spaces you can have in your home. Identifying what inspires your style and finding your inspiration in shape and form and finally incorporating that into your homes may be a herculean task but it is non-negotiable. It has to be done.
Here are 5 ideas that we can swear by when it comes to decorating your bedroom spaces.
1. Doesn’t frequently update you about the project
Your home is your dream and when someone who is closely working on that dream, doesn’t help you remain updated about its progress, it’s a huge, big red flag. It is every interior designer’s responsibility to do so quite diligently at least every fortnight. It’s best to set a communication style and request the designer to stick to it if you feel that their current style isn’t working out for you. It is not right of you to assume that they just forgot to update you or they must’ve been busy to find time to update you just because they have the necessary credentials and can pack a punch.
2. Goes too far with creative liberties
Design is definitely a subjective topic and a lot of opinions fall under the grey area. It is crucial that you give your designer creative liberty to express themselves because they’re professional and qualified enough to take such liberty. But the key would be to experiment with ideas without compromising on the vision you have for your dream home. If their trysts with creative liberties leads to anything else but your vision it could be disappointing and sad. It is important to jot down some of your Dont’s and Definitely Dont’s so that the designer is fully aware of their boundaries while experimenting.
3. Agrees to everything without hesitation
While this might make you feel like you’ve found the perfect Interior designer, more often than not they might be over-promising just to lock you in as a client. Pay close attention to their responses and see if they’re able to offer solutions, and alternative considerations to your demands and needs. Check if they are making any recommendations after carefully going through your proposal and also understand if they are capable of working on your vision, With you and not for you.
4. Plays hard to get
If your designer is playing hard to get after landing you as a client then its a big bright red flag. Going radio silent is never a great look on anyone, let alone someone who has promised to work on your dream project. To avoid this, you can ensure that you request a timeline and a style of communication either via calls or simple texts and mails with updates on a spread out, yet regular basis.
