Our homes have been our sanctuary for the past 2 years, and have received more love, care and attention in these past two years than ever before. With the trends from 2021 on their way out, here are 4 prominent Interior Design trends that will grace our homes this 2022.
1.Colors and Patterns
Shades of brown will be gladly welcomed as a palate cleanser after experimenting with too neutral, bold, pastel colours. This colour when presented with deep neutral hues will make way for rich, elegant and timeless spaces
It is speculated that the neutral colours will take a back seat and people will be seen gravitating towards hues that are found in nature, predominantly brown. Green is also speculated to be a hot choice this year to introduce a change in scenery after being stuck in our homes.
Curved lines and rounded shapes in lighting, furniture and home decor is going to be a pattern we will be seeing a lot of.
2. Nature inspired elements
Bringing nature into our homes has been a goal ever since people started staying indoors more. The simplest way of executing the outdoor-living lifestyle is to use shades of green and blue in home decor. This could be with fabrics or paints. Floral patterns are also going to have their moment this year. You could add live plants and natural materials to add to this experience. It is going to be refreshing to see crystals, clay, stone, marble, wood take a centre stage in your living spaces.
3.Multi-functional spaces
People have realised the potential of their spaces and have started experimenting with them.
Living spaces also being used as a workspace is the new normal. Thus, innovative and creative ways to design spaces to be more efficient are going to be in vogue. People are going to use decor that has more than one functionality and style their living spaces to look elegant and classy. For example, a sofa bed, nesting tables, foldable dining tables, a chest that can also be used as a coffee table etc.
4.Sustainability
2022 is going to witness more sustainable living choices for homes. Sustainability is ensured by repurposing the old, and recycling the damaged fabrics and products into something new. Designers are also making sure that energy efficient products are used for the homes to reduce carbon footprint, like looking to provide renewable, non-carbon-based energy to the building. Windows, curtains, blinds are reimagined to control the temperature of the space using energy efficient ways. Carpets are being used to provide thermal insulation to the homes.
There is something new every year, but this year is going to witness a lot of calm, natural elements in the homes mostly inspired by the inability to step out of our homes.
